Soy milk

Everyone is familiar with soybeans but few people know that soy milk is nothing is but milk made up of soybeans. The process is very simple. Soybeans are soaked in water and then later on grinded in the same. By doing this, a fluid is excreted from soybeans which are known as soy milk. It is very simple to make soy milk and it can also be prepared at home with some tools and well it would be great if you own a machine of soy milk. However, the soy milk that is readily available in the market is added with extra contents of nutrients, calcium and vitamins. They are usually flavored. Soy milk is loved by many and the most running flavors available in the market are chocolate and vanilla. As most of the milk lovers love cow’s milk, some of the companies that produce soy milk try to thicken the soy milk they sell. This is because cow milk lovers will find soy milk similar to it, because of its properties of being thick. Soy milk is not so famous in the western appetite but it is very much used in china and several of the Chinese cuisines.
Initially, soy milk was not liked by many as it had a soy beany taste to it. Later on, as technology advanced and repeated attempts to improve the taste were successful, the demand for soy milk began to rise. As time passed by, people started to get aware about the benefits of soy milk. A very good benefit is that soy milk is rich in vegetable proteins and hence it protects loss of calcium. Many people are allergic to lactose. Soy milk is the right choice for them as soy milk is lactose free. As far as allergies related to soy milk are concerned, studies till now have proven that very few people are allergic to it. For all those who suffer from coronary heart disease that is caused due to cholesterol should opt for soy milk as it helps in reduction of the cholesterol levels in the body. The most unique benefit is that soy milk consists of isoflavones. Isoflavone is beneficial, as it helps in reducing the cholesterol level, reducing the symptoms of menopause, preventing the occurrence of osteoporosis and reducing the risk of breast cancer and prostate cancer.
However, it must not be forgotten that soy milk has certain pitfalls as well. The worst is that soy milk lacks calcium. Contradictory studies have stated that soy milk should not be taken in excess as it is harmful for the heart and the lungs. Well, anything in excess is considered to be harmful. So everyone become aware of the pros and cons of soy milk and then decide if they would really want to consume it.
